Alabama schools closed for remainder of 2019-20 school year.

Governor Ivey announced on March 26 that all public schools in Alabama will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-20 school year. Districts will be expected to provide distance learning opportunities for students based on the resources available to each district. LEAs are allowed to continue instruction until June 5.

 

The Alabama State Department of Education will support each LEA in its implementation of distance learning. More information will be available at https://www.alsde.edu/covid-19.

Meal Pick-up Sites

During this crisis, K12 public schools in Alabama are continuing to provide free meals to students.

UPDATES

Make-up Days

Students will be required to make up lost days due to COVID19. LEAs will be allowed to continue instruction until June 5.

Graduation

State Superintendent Mackey has announced that lost days will not negatively impact graduation. He has established a task force to develop a plan. More information will be available soon.

Testing

State standardized testing has been cancelled for this year. AP Exams will take place at home and will be in essay format only. The ACT has been moved to June, and the May 2nd SAT is cancelled
