Fall is here, and with it, the momentum that always seems to hit after the first few weeks of school. Classrooms are buzzing with learning, campuses are alive with student voice, and across Alabama, public charter schools are pushing forward with purpose, joy, and a shared belief in what’s possible.
This issue of Charter Connect is packed with stories that reflect just that, possibility. From LEAD Academy’s championship cheer squad to I Dream Big’s recognition as a Be Healthy School, we’re highlighting the wins (big and small) that fuel our movement. We’re also spotlighting efforts across the state to engage families, strengthen communities, and advance educational equity, including our Parent Voice Fellowship Cohort 4, which kicked off in person last month!
You'll also find a powerful recap of NSFA CEO Tyler Barnett’s testimony before the U.S. Senate HELP Committee, where Alabama’s charter successes took center stage on a national platform.
We’re also thrilled to feature a guest article by Dr. Erica Jewel Littleton, who sends a powerful charge to charter school leaders to invest in teacher mentorship across the sector.
As always, thank you for the work you do each day to support students and families. Whether you’re a school leader, teacher, parent, or community advocate, this movement doesn’t move without you.
Here’s to dreaming big and delivering daily.
