New Charter School Approved for Fairfield: Independence Preparatory Academy Set to Open in Fall 2024

Today, the Alabama Charter School Commission has unanimously approved the proposal for Independence Preparatory Academy, a K-8 college preparatory school in Fairfield founded by Calandra Scales. This school will be a public, tuition-free Alabama charter school, meaning it will be open to residents regardless of where they live.

Independence Preparatory Academy will offer a high-quality education that prepares students for college and beyond. The school will have a rigorous academic program and will provide a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters character development and leadership skills.

We are thrilled to support Independence Preparatory Academy as part of our mission to promote quality charter schools in Alabama. Tyler Barnett, CEO of New Schools for Alabama, informs that the school is set to open in the fall of 2024.

We can't wait to see its positive impact on students and families in the Fairfield community. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to Alabama's charter school community!
